!! Since late 1700s,this metaphor alludes to someo-ne literally putting his shoulder to the wheel and pushing a heavy bogged-down wagon out of the mud or over an obstacle to set it free. In stagecoach days the passengers were all supposed to aid their horses in such a situation. 自一七○○年代後期以來，這個隱喻按照字面表示某人將他的肩膀放在車輪上並將一輛沉重陷入泥濘的馬車從泥地或障礙物中推出。在驛馬車時代，乘客們都應該在這種情況下幫助他們的馬匹。
