Pecking Order——繼承順序

!! The term “pecking order” was invented by biologist W. C. Allee in the 1920s to characterize the behavior of domestic fowl with one bird pecking another of lower status. That rigid social structure shows that bird A could peck B, but not vice versa; bird C might be pecked by either A or B, but could itself peck only D and others lower down in the "pecking order."

生物學家阿利在二十世紀二十年代發明了“啄食順序”一詞來描述家禽的行為，其中一隻鳥啄另一隻較低地位的鳥。這種嚴格的社會結構表明，鳥A可以啄鳥B，但不能反過來；鳥C可能被鳥A或鳥B啄，但在“啄食順序”中，它自己只會啄鳥D和其他啄序中比較低的鳥。

在一個正式的餐飲招待會，長幼尊卑次序是前輩坐在面向出口的桌頭。
