!! A settler in 1640 colonial New England, who was dissatisfied with the parcel of land allotted to him, would pull up the boundary stakes (posts) and either return to England or move to another location, resetting the stakes there.

一六四○年，新英格蘭殖民地的定居者若對分配的土地不滿意，會拔掉邊界樁（柱子）返回英格蘭或搬到另一個地方，重新設置那裡的邊界樁。

!! Prospectors, trappers, explorers and campers in the American Old West used to live in tents, the edges of which were staked down with wooden pegs. When they wanted to move on, they would first pull up the tent pegs or “stakes” and then dismantle their tents.

在美國舊西部的探礦者、捕獵者、探險者和露營者過去常常住在帳篷裡，帳篷邊緣用木釘固定。當他們要繼續時，會先拔起帳篷樁或“木樁”，然後再拆除帳篷。
